In order to fulfill the necessary requirements for a commercial license, the Department of Transportation requires each potential applicant to complete a DOT physical. There are a set of guidelines one most follow to complete this physical, including:

  • No loss of limbs including a foot, hand, or arm.
  • Minimum of 20/40 vision
  • No medical history of an respiratory dysfunctions that would impair ones driving
  • Minimum of  140/90 blood pressure
  • No diagnosis of epilepsy
  • No mental or psychological disorder that impairs one’s ability to drive.
  • No history of alcoholism or drug use
  • Ability to distinguish a forced whisper from 5 feet away.
